Remote Backup - How it works

1 Automatic Backup

A schedule is created to automatically backup files on your computer. You can choose which files to backup, how often to backup and how many historical copies you need. We can also configure the backup to store copies on your own server for easy access. Most importantly, it will all be automatic so you never have to think about it.

2 Connect to VPN

When the backup runs, a secure VPN (Virtual Private Network) tunnel is created from your computer directly to our server for copying. Every bit of data that passes through the tunnel is first encrypted using the highest standards making it unreadable to prying eyes. VPN (Fig. 1) is regarded as the best choice for big corporations when making secure, private connections from their servers to remote offices.

3 Copy Backup Files

When your files are delta copied to our remote backup server, only the parts of the files that have changed need to be copied to maximize efficiency and minimize load on your server and network. This method greatly reduces upload times over other services and helps insure that your server and network connection are only used for backup during off peak hours.
